CRAIG BRISTOL MARSH

May 29, 1951-November 10, 2024

Craig Bristol Marsh shared his megawatt smile throughout his 73 years. He was born on May 29, 1951, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Don and Mimi Marsh. The second of four children, Craig grew up on Air Force bases, and discovered his love for the south when he lived in Alabama.

His passions were clear: he cherished his family and friends, his two careers, and his interests. Craig met Cozanne Ricks when he was golfing and she was working at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Clifton Park, New York. They got married in 1989 and they welcomed their son Galen Donhar Marsh on Christmas Day.

Craig treasured moments with family, from early vacations with Grandma Cleo in Nebraska, to camping adventures on Cape Cod, to taking Cozanne to the skies to visit family and friends across the United States.

After graduating from Hartwick College, Craig built a successful career through Farm Family Insurance, where he held various positions in the Northeast Region. In 2004, he received Farm Family’s high honor for Regional Manager.

Craig followed his long insurance career by buying a Richton, Mississippi, golf course which he developed from 9 holes to 18 holes. He built six townhouses on the course while Cozanne ran the Clubhouse. Paying customers at the Southern Gate Golf Course often found Craig mowing the grass.

Retirement meant more time for interests. He bought a 1966 Piper fixed wing single engine plane; he and Cozanne purchased a home in Brant Lake, New York; Craig played a lot of golf at Cronin’s Golf Resort in Warrensburg, New York. Throughout his life, he encouraged youth. One nephew recalled that Craig boosted his golf game by frequently saying, “That’s a great lookin’ golf shot!” One niece described Craig as the “King of quirk and kindness…who never took life too seriously.”

Craig was a patriot. Although he was born in America’s heartland, his family is scattered coast to coast. In addition to his wife Cozanne and son Galen, Craig’s family includes siblings Merilee Marsh (Terrance Donohue) from Boise, Idaho; Linda Marsh (Art Ziller) from Buffalo, New York; Tedi Marsh (George Silva, M.D.) from Cape Cod, Massachusetts; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Brent and Heidi Ricks from Ballston Lake, New York. Numerous nephews and nieces, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces, are also part of the family.

Craig believed that golf—with its unexpected challenges—is a metaphor for life. Those interested in donating to his memory are encouraged to support First Tee, a 501(c)(3) youth development organization that enables youth to build character to empower them through a lifetime of new challenges. To donate, visit www.firsttee.org, click Donate, make sure to check the box Tribute Gift, and specify in memory of Craig Marsh. A Celebration of Craig’s Life and Memorial Service will take place in the spring of 2025.

Craig Bristol Marsh loved hitting golf balls across the turf and flying his plane above the earth. As one sister described his life four days before he died: “He flew his plane on Wednesday, golfed on Thursday, and then went in for a routine medical checkup on Friday.” He was admitted that afternoon to the Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, New York, and died early Sunday, November 10, 2024. Family surrounded him. Heroic healthcare providers cared for him. His spirit continues to soar.

Arrangements are entrusted to Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Pine St. Chestertown, NY 12817.

Alan C. Cappella, Age 64, of Chestertown, NY, went Home to be with his Lord on January 30, 2024.  He is survived by his wife Wendy, daughters – Grace, Christiana, and Emily, sons- Joshua and Jedidiah, brothers – Ron, Ken, and Chris, sister Sharon, father-in-law Paul, brother-in-law Allen, sisters-in-law Kathy and Lisa, 14 nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by his father Andrew B. Cappella, mother Joan Grant Cappella, brother Larry Cappella, and mother-in-law Irena Halstead.

Alan was born in Milford, Connecticut December 30, 1959. He grew up in West Haven Connecticut, graduated: with a BA from Houghton College, from Moody Bible Institute’s Advanced Studies Program, and earned an MLIS from Rosary College. While employed as circulation supervisor at Moody Bible Institute’s library Alan met his wife Wendy; they married June 22, 1991. Alan accepted the librarian position at the Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI) in 1998. Alan enjoyed interacting with staff and students, worked diligently at developing a library collection to best support WOLBI's biblical and theological courses of study. Alan especially loved that WOLBI encouraged him to meet regularly with students for biblical discipleship. Alan made time to get to know well each student he discipled, listening, praying with them, sharing biblical truth with them, and supporting personal growth in their relationship with Jesus Christ.  The disabling effects of Parkinson’s disease forced Alan to retire early (June 2021), however it was a recent diagnosis of an advanced stage of oropharyngeal cancer which all too quickly overcame Alan’s body.

Alan was a loving and dedicated husband and father who prioritized his relationship with God and openly lived out his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Alan strongly supported Wendy throughout all the years of homeschooling their children. Alan loved the outdoors and took every opportunity to enjoy it with his family. For many years he served as “Coach Alan” in the Olympians children’s Bible club at Faith Bible Church.  Alan was gifted with a special ability to play the piano and loved to use his playing to worship his Lord at home and in the churches he belonged to for over 50 years.

Alan is no longer suffering; he now has a transformed body because of God's resurrection power (Bible references: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Philippians 3:20-21). While a student at Houghton College Alan understood and believed the Bible's clear message of God's sacrificial love for him, he made the life-changing decision to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and he received God's gift of eternal life. By faith, Alan trusted in Jesus Christ's death on the cross to be the all-sufficient payment for his sins (and the sins of all of mankind). (Bible references: John 3:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:1, Romans 10:9).

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024  at Faith Bible Church, 15 Foster Flats Rd Chestertown, NY. Arrangements are entrusted to Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Pine St. Chestertown, NY. Memorials may be made to WOLBI Life Change Student Fund (Ref 0D621C) Mail to Word of Life P.O. Patti was born in Rochester N.Y. August 9, 1950 to Edward P. Wynne and Theresa (Strauss) Wynne. She graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School in 1968.

Several years later she moved to the Adirondacks; her family's vacation spot since the 1930’s. She then became reacquainted with a good friend Robert (Butch) Stetson, eventually to be married September 9, 1989. They shared a wonderful, eventful life together.

Patti jointly worked at the Black Bear Restaurant owned by Butch and became an integral part of the business for 33 years. They celebrated every occasion with a grand party at the Black Bear whether it be Christmas, Halloween, Birthdays, etc.

Countless friends and family members shared many beautiful memories over those years in the Adirondacks. She loved to host vibrant parties at their lovely home especially in the summer, when all the family and friends on both sides could be together from near and far.

Patti had a passion for golf and played with her husband in many leagues over the years. Her card playing, especially Euchre, was always quite competitive with many expletives!

She was a phenomenal caregiver starting at a young age tending to her younger brothers when her mother went back to work as a nurse. Care giving continued with her Grandmother, her mother, Thersa and stepfather Owen. When Butch became chronically ill several years ago, she never left his side and after some time of relentless care he recovered. In some cases during her own illness she had to inform the nurses on proper procedures and what to do.

Patti is predeceased by her parents, Edward P. Wynne and Theresa (Wynne) Rappleye and stepfather Owen Rappleye.

She is survived by the “LOVE OF HER LIFE, Robert (Butch) Stetson; her brothers Bill (Sandy) Wynne, Bob (Mary) Wynne, Ed (Carol) Wynne and Tim Wynne, along with her adoring sister Betsy; her stepchildren, Suzette Stetson and Bobby Stetson Jr. Her step grandchildren, Christopher Saville and Sasha Wood. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews along with new and long time friends.
